Netanyahu given chance to form Israel's new government

Benjamin Netanyahu was given another opportunity by Israeli president Rivlin to form another government after the Wednesday elections. Netanyahu will be given 28 days to form a government to have a majority in the 120 member Israeli parliament. Israeli president Rivlin is also pushing for a unity government between Netanyahu and Gantz especially since they were running against each other during the elections. The two parties held talks on Tuesday but that quickly fell down. Netanyahu believes that a unity government is the only way to settle a political statement especially since Gantz won the endorsement by one vote over Netanyahu. The last unity government was in 1980 and each leader served for two years of the four terms. Between the two politicians Netanyahu was given the chance to start the new government. Gantz in no way wants to share power with the prime minister due to different political ideas. Source:  https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/25/world/middleeast/israel-election-res

The Annexation of settlements, first with the Jordan Valley

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that if he is reelected then he will start his campaign to annex the Israeli settlements of Judea and Samaria starting with the Jordan Valley. He will be part of a plan that coincides with President Trump's Middle East peace plan policy. Using it as a campaign promise, he has stated that if he does not win his reelection then the other candidates will not be able to implement this annexation plan of the Jordan Valley and that this moment is an "historic opportunity that we may not have again." Netanyahu also believes that he has the full support of the United States for this annexation plan. On the other hand he has also received some backlash when he announced this Jordan Valley annexation plan. Former Ministers have criticized him for being late with the plan stating that he has had so much time to do this plan of action, and also stating that he is using it to win votes and it is an empty promise. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be making history for his visitation to the city of Hebron. The Prime Minster's visit will consist of a state speech, near the tomb of the patriarchs, commemorating the 90 year anniversary when Arab rioters killed 67 Jews in the biblical city. No other prime minister has ever addressed the city, many of the former prime ministers either visited the city for a short period of time or they drove through it. Prime Minister Netanyahu has some history visiting the city of Hebron. In 1998 he visited the city with former president Ezen Weizman to pay condolences to the family of deceased Rabbi Shlomo Ra'anan who was killed in the city of Hebron by a terrorist. Prime Minister Netanyahu has conducted policy to settle disputes with the Israelis and the Palestinians who lived in that city.
